My friends tell me I am a “good Googler.” In other words, I can find out just about anything you want to know by using Google. My curiosity pushes me to search further and find the answers even when my friends searched but are unable to find what they are looking for. Animal Chiropractic

While searching online, I found the web site of a veterinarian named Dr.Ava Frick. What caught my attention was the fact that Dr.Frick has had great results treating pets by using microcurrent therapy. She has treated her canine, feline and equine patients who suffer from depression, anxiety, pain, and many other problems.

Most people are alarmed as I mentioned “microcurrent therapy” so please do not confuse this treatment with those awful collars other people use to keep their dogs from barking. You actually know what I am pertaining to. The dog stops barking o avoid severe pain as these collars responds to the dog’s barking by giving an electric shock to contain the poor dog. These collars are just similar to torture so why treat your beloved pet this way?

Since I am lucky enough to live within driving distance of Dr. Frick’s clinics, Midwest Microcurrent and Animal Fitness Center, in Union, Missouri, she treated my cat and added us to her long list of success stories. She employs this state-of-the-art technology to relieve your cat, dog, or horse with the best environment and enable healing plus relief in a highly controlled environment,

The history of microcurrent therapy, Dr.Frick told me, goes back a long way. In fact, it has been used for more than 2,000 years.

Microcurrent therapy provides help in dealing with illnesses and symptoms like depression, anxiety, headaches, back aches, spinal injuries, and behavioral problems. Do whatever you can in order to make your pet feel better if something seems to be wrong with your pet and research for whatever ways you can. Animal Chiropractic

I am a huge movie buff, with one of my all-time favorite teen flicks being “Clueless” starring Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd who later went on to “Friends” and other movies, and Brittany Murphy. Last December, I was definitely stunned by the news about Brittany Murphy’s sudden death. Animal Chiropractic

My heart went out to her mother and her husband, Simon Monjack, as they laid her to rest, following her funeral, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California. The 32-year old actress had a heart attack, which caused her death at their shared home with her husband in LA on December 20, 2009, as stated by the news reports.

As I clicked through her husband’s web site I saw breathtaking photos that Simon had taken of Brittany. Such a shame for someone so beautiful and talented to be taken from us too soon.

Aside from the tragic loss of her family and fans, what truly broke my heart was when I learned of Brittany’s female Maltese named Clara. I am such an animal lover that I cried when I read online at People magazine’s web site that Brittany’s husband said that the dog was experiencing a change in behavior since Brittany’s death.

Her husband gave Clara to his wife as a Christmas gift the previous year. Brittany named her after silent film star Clara Bow and was reported as describing Clara as “a humongous personality in a tiny package. She is treated not as a pet but as a family member.

I had never really given it much thought, but this tragic turn of events made me wonder how pets react to their owner’s death. Do pets mourn? If so, how can survivors help the pet’s physical and emotional health during the mourning process?

My pet’s veterinarian, Dr.Ava Frick, is a specialist in pet behavior. Due to problems of excessive barking and showing aggression toward my other two dogs, she has been using Alpha-Stim technology treatments on one of my dogs.

Dr. Frick and I discussed Clara and pets’ ability to mourn during our next appointment. According to her, going through a mourning period after the loss of a human or animal companion is common for a dog. The symptoms are actually exhibited for days or even weeks plus decreased appetite, lethargy, and changes in the dog’s behavior.

Keeping a dog on its normal routine is important in such cases, she said. Exercise can do wonders to relieve stress for pets as with humans who are going through issues. Also, acquaintance with familiar people and meeting new friendly faces can boost the pet’s mood.

If the pet’s mourning period seems to carry on, it is a good idea to seek the advice of professionals. Your veterinarian can identify Physiologic abnormalities, which might be contributing to the dog’s depression.

Alternative therapies like acupuncture, herbal supplements, and dietary modification fit for those dogs who are mourning and experiencing depression. Pet Pain Relief

After all of the buzz in the news over the last few months about the Swine Flu (also known as H1N1 influenza), I grew concerned over whether my two West Highland White Terriers, Bogie and Bacall, might be in danger. The cat had developed signs of a respiratory infection after several people in its family were ill.

After tests resulting as positive for H1N1, the cat was reported as the first cat infected with the swine Flu. Horse Pain Relief

Dr. Frick informed me that both American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline practitioners put out reminders regarding many viruses having the ability to pass between people and animals. Dr. Frick informed me that both American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline practitioners put out reminders regarding many viruses having the ability to pass between people and animals.

Of course, she said, it is always smart to keep an eye on your pet’s health and get in touch with your veterinarian if anything seems to be of concern. Instead of risking your pet being uncomfortable or even suffering, it is always best to nip something in the bud.

While canine influenza is much more common in dogs than H1N1, it is also a much more serious health threat. It has the unfortunate ability to spread quickly through anywhere there is a population of dogs such as rescue organizations, kennels, or greyhound facilities and can pass directly from one dog to another.

One complication of canine influenza is pneumonia, which is sometimes fatal. Actually, it has been reported that its mortality is approximately 10%.

So far, the authorities are telling us that H1N1 can infect cats and maybe dogs, but it does not seem to be capable of passing among animals. I am glad that I have had Bogie and Bacall under Dr. Frick’s care for several years and that we do everything possible to boost their immune systems through stress relief with Alpha-Stim treatment, and by providing them with multi-vitamins and a healthy diet.
