How to Train a Dog

This is The Header Then

Training your yorkshire terrier puppies is not a quick process, but it doesn’t have to be a difficult one. Any dog can be trained, and any dog owner can learn to train their dog. Follow the advice in this article for some ways to make the process easier, faster, and more effective.

This could be common sense, but when training your dog be aware of them. You need to pay attention to your dog when training them to watch how they behave regularly and what needs to be fixed and what doesn’t. You need to see both their good and bad behaviors so that you can train them properly.

Puppies tend to nip as a way of communicating, and this should be curbed. It is normally a signal that they want to play. If you observe a puppy with his litter mates, this is the way that they interact with each other. When your puppy nips you, say ‘no’ firmly, and immediately give him a toy to play with.

To ensure a well-trained four-legged friend from the start, make sure you practice consistency in all you do once you bring your new canine companion home. This means discussing all aspects of the dog’s care, needs and training with all members of your household. A dog that is getting yelled at by one family member for urinating in the house while another family member just quietly cleans up the mess serves only to confuse and frustrate the puppy. If all members of the family treat the dog uniformly, whether admonishing it or showering it with praise, the dog will learn more quickly, and all family members will have the ability to successfully command the dog with ease.

Training your dog to “speak” can help eliminate annoying excessive barking. Dogs bark to alert the pack of threats. Since they bark by default, it is a good idea to teach them to “speak”, because then they will understand how to not bark. Start by telling your dog to “speak” when it barks at the telephone ringing. Then, when the dogs pauses, tell the dog “quiet”. This will help the dog distinguish a barking state from a non-barking state.

Be careful that you do not inadvertently punish good behavior. For example, when you are house training a puppy and you take them outside, do not leave them out there by themselves and go inside. This can actually teach the puppy that going to the bathroom outside means you leave them. Instead, after praising, further reward the puppy with some outside play time. This keeps the whole experience positive.

To train your dog efficiently, you must learn how to be firm with it. But do not yell at your dog constantly: try finding the right balance between being strict when your dog misbehaves and being a loving master the rest of the time. This develops a strong relationship with your dog.

Choose a consistent command or sound to use when training your dog not to bark. Make sure everyone in the household knows the command or sound to use and applies it consistently. Dogs learn better with consistency and when everyone in the dog’s household gives a consistent message, unwanted barking can be eliminated faster.

No matter how old your dog is, or how troublesome he has been until now, some of the above advice will make a difference. Just be patient in the application of the advice. Hopefully you and your dog will be happier than ever.
